14 weeks today! Wahhooo! This thankfully means that I'm through the first trimester. The nausea has subsided and the fatigue is slowly disappearing as well. They call the 2nd trimester the honeymoon period and for good reason! You are over the yuckiness of the 1st but not so huge that you're miserable (like in the 3rd).
I do have a cold this week (compliments of church nursery) which has made me feel pretty horrible, but I'm looking forward to be over it and getting some energy back.
Baby2 is about the size of a lemon now. All parts are formed and in place, now we are just baking and rising until due date!
I've not gained any weight as of yet. I've really tried to be careful this time around. I hated the weight loss after having Emery....not to metion I started this pregnancy out 20 lbs heavier than with the first.
I also can not wait to find out what this baby is. I seriously do not know how people wait until the birth. I want to know now!

Ginger Snaps, HELLO!
I just made the most amazing cookies ever. I'm not a great baker. Benji takes that title in this house. Not that I can't, I just usually don't have the patience for all the measuring and waiting.
But I made these today, pretty simple and they were worth every measurement!
My house smells so amazing right now, I'd almost make these just to have the aroma, which is better than any candle out there.
Now if the weather would just follow with cooler temps we'd be all set for fall.
p.s I found this on the Fly Through Our Window Blog, and she found it in a Jr. League Cookbook.
Gingersnaps
2 cups flour
2 teaspoons baking soda
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1 teaspoon ground cloves
1 teaspoon ginger
3/4 cup butter-flavor shortening
1 cup sugar
1/4 cup molasses
1 egg
sugar to roll cookies in
Sift the flour, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, cloves, and ginger together. Cream the shortening and 1 cup of sugar in a mixing bowl. Add the molasses and egg and beat well. Add the flour mixture and mix well. Roll into small balls, adding additional flour if necessary to make the dough easy to handle. Dip in sugar and place 2 inches apart on lightly greased cookie sheets. Bake at 375 for 10 to 12 minutes or until golden brown. Cool on wire racks.

What I Really Want
What I really want right now is to blog a few different post tonight, but I'm just too exhausted! Today and yesterday pregnancy fog hit me pretty hard. I have felt terrible the past few days.
So here's my summary of what I wanted to blog about separately...
I have found a new healthy treat. Kefir. Lately it has been something that has really helped settle my sensitive stomach.
The September issues of all the magazines are out! Yahooo! September marks the beginning of the new fashion season, which is fun because I always seem to think of fall as the start of the new year as well. I still buy the academic year calenders that run from August to August. Benji's work year revolves around his student's school year, which I love! (it's the perpetual student in me). So pick up the September issues of Vogue, Elle, even Martha Stewart's Living had a fabulous Sept issue. It's the biggest month for all periodicals.
The first weekend in September I'm headed to the beach for a weekend of girls only fun. I'm so thankful for the girls that God has placed in my life. These girls enrich and bless my life more than they will ever know.
Finally, I can not quit watching Diners, Drive In's and Dives on the Food Network. I think it must be the pregnancy. The food looks SO amazing! I want to travel all over the U.S and visit every place that's filmed.
All right, I wanted to add pictures, but I'm donzo for the night. Off to the bath to relax and read one of my Sept issues. :)

Bean Bean's A Baby
Well, I can no longer call baby2 a bean, because he/she is officially as big as a baby! It's amazing how fast they go from a blip on a screen to a fully recognizable human. I got to see the baby yesterday when I went in for a screening test.
It is still as fun and exciting as it was the first time. I'm certainly not as anxious or afraid of all the "unknowns" of pregnancy but I'm still as excited and amazed at the wonder of new life.
I have slowly started to feel better this past week. I still have bouts of nausea and exhaustion, but these episodes are becoming fewer and fewer. I will be 13 weeks on Monday and am looking forward to the second semester "grace period".
This weekend we've gotten a great head start on Emery's big girl room. We found this adorable, cubby hole thingy to store her toys. Her bedding is done and I purchased her dresser (finally) today. All that is left now is for me to sort through the insane amount of toys. My intentions are to put the infant toys in the nursery and leave Emery's in her room.
This week she also went to the potty all by herself on her little toilet. I guess that means that next week we will be potty training, Lord help me I'm scared!
I think the hardest battle we will fight with her will be getting rid of the paci. she is very attached. She would have it in her mouth all day if I would let her.
I can not believe she is so big! Time really does fly by with babies. Two years is such a short time and they change SO MUCH.
It has rained here every day for the past two weeks it seems. I wonder some days if in my pregnancy fog Benji picked us up and moved us to Seattle. In fact, so much rain that my tomato plants have rotted! This family is definitely looking forward to fall and the cooler weather.
Sunday at church all the freshman move up to our youth group. Benji looks forward to this time every year. It is such an exciting moment for our youth group to have the "new" kids move up. Emery also moves up in her Sunday School class! And she starts her MMO class next week. So many new things coming up this year, I can't wait to see how much Emery grows and learns.

Days Gone By

In honor of summer days coming to a close. Me and the boo boo swimming in my mom's pool in July. I'm ready for fall, but oh how I'll miss these days when they're gone. :)

Cajun Spice Rub
This may be your Christmas present, so keep reading only if you think you won't be on my list this year! Ha!
I saw this fab idea on an episode of Homemade Made Simple on TLC. Everyone has been in the kitchen looking for a last minute spice to liven up a steak or chicken that's two seconds from being thrown on the grill.
I'm a fan of rubs because they don't need hours of marinating. Just rub that baby down and throw it on da grill!
These measurements are for individual servings..(as in you would need to do this amount for each person you wish to gift).
INGREDIENTS
1/2 cup paprika
2 tablespoons cayenne pepper
1/4 cup garlic powder
1/4 cup onion powder
3 tablespoons dried oregano
3 tablespoons dried thyme
2 tablespoons fennel seeds
1 tablespoon file powder
4 tablespoons salt
4 tablespoons black pepper
This is a rub that sounds great for anything that could be grilled!
Divide portions into cute jars, tie a bow and you have an adorable and thoughtful gift!

Bravo! Bravo!

I love love love Bravo T.V!!!!
It's no secret I've been a fan of Bravo reality series for awhile.
This is the channel that brings us The Real Housewives, Bethenny Getting Married, Top Chef, Project Runway (before it sold out to lifetime), Nine By Design, Millionaire Matchmaker....and my two all time favorites that start airing back to back tonight!
Flipping Out and The Rachel Zoe Project!
Flipping Out follows Jeff Lewis, house flipper with major OCD issues. He creates amazing houses and is hilarious at the same time.
The Rachel Zoe Project follows, well you guessed it! Rachel Zoe, the most infamous (and skinniest) stylist to the stars. Basically any celebrity you've ever seen that looked amazing was probably dressed by her....
Hooray for Bravo T.V making amazingly entertaining, and original reality T.V!

Monday Monday
Monday is our Sunday. Well, for Emery and I anyway.
Sunday is usually so crammed packed that on Monday we just take it easy around the house. I try not to leave the house if possible on Mondays. Everyone needs a sabbath, a day of rest and so I try to make Monday that for me and the boo boo.
Here's what our Sunday looks like:
Benji usually gets up before 7, gets ready and heads to his office for last minutes "stuff" before the a.m.
Emery and I wake up around 8, I have to feed her, dress her, get the dog outside to do his business
(Now that I'm knocked up I have to feed myself as well)but that doesn't always happen.
TRY to make some coffee- which also doesn't always happen
TRY to get myself presentable enough to be the wife of the youth pastor, which, you guessed it doesn't always happen either! I always know it's been awhile since I've accomplished this when I finally here from my small group, "wow Kristi, you look really nice today"....haha as in, "wow! I forgot what you looked liked with makeup on"....
I drop Emery off around 9:15 for her Sunday School class on one side of the church, then I truck it over to the other side to lead my small group of high school girls...(hey it is a big church it is a long walk)
Benji speaks until 10 then we break into small groups until 1030.
Then we head over to Worship service.
At 12 I go and get Emery out of the nursery while Benji "socializes".
Emery is usually wiped out by then so we head home for nap and lunch. She usually falls asleep in the car before we get home, and it's only like a 5 minute drive!
We get home around 1230 or 1pm...depending on how much talking Benji did after church.
Benji and I eat while Emery naps. Then hopefully I'll nap (in the bed. I don't play games with nap time. No couch for me).
Benji will probably nap a little on the couch while flipping through sports channels.
Emery wakes up around 2 or 3, we'll feed her, go outside with her, or play inside.
I'll try and get something prepared for dinner to eat after service.
Benji may head back over to church a little early, but most times around 545 we'll head back to church...
Emery goes back in the nursery for service at 6.
7pm I pick her up, we head home have dinner.
Do the bath thing, play a little, maybe read a book then it's bed time for the boo boo!
Whew! and that's a Sunday for us!
Wednesday's are just as fun and crazy. Such is the life of a ministers kid.

For Me!

Parmesan and Thyme Crackers
We don't have a printer at home (well a printer worth anything) so I'm blogging this b/c I just ran across it on the blog, Brunch At Saks, and I want to make them so bad!
Pregnancy brain has me forgetting everything so this is mainly for me! For my memory.
But you'd probably love them too. Who doesn't love cheese crackers?

I May Be A Peach

I may be a Georgia peach, but I am in luuuurrrrvvvv with nectarines.
Mainly because they ain't furry!
And they are usually bigger.
And juicer.
They are totally in season right now. And amazing!
Yesterday I bought some at Publix, put the bags in the car ( I was waiting on Benji's drugs from the pharmacy...another post another time) any way, he was waiting in the car with Emery. When I came back out she had grabbed one out of the bag and was going to town on it!
It was all over her face, hands, the car seat, but she was loving it so much I just let her finish it. I think she even ate the little fruit sticker off the side. haha.
Any way, get some if you haven't!
Nine Years Ago Today....
Nine years ago today I married Benji.
I can say with out hesitation that it was the best decision I ever made.
People like to ask married couples "what's the hardest thing about marriage?"
We have always replied, "our marriage is easy, life is what's hard."
I still feel that way today. Benji is someone I never grow tired of being around, someone I can always count on no matter what...and someone who can always make me laugh, even when I don't feel like laughing.
I realize that there are not many men like Benji in the world, and the fact that I snagged him, well that blessing is not wasted on me. I appreciate his hard work, dedication to God, dedication to me and his dedication to Emery.
Thank you LORD for my husband!

The Max
I'm so stressed out.
Stressed to da max!
No really. I mean it's not as bad as seminary days or anything, but still, I'm feeling a tad harry these days.
I know I still have awhile before this new baby comes, but I am anxious about getting Emery's new room finished.
I think the fact that we've been gone so much this summer has made trying to keep organized impossible.
When Emery had a birthday we just piled about 100 more toys on top of the already chaotic house.
Plus I've felt so crummy I've just done the bare minimum to keep things moving in the home.
Now I'm just overwhelmed.
There is laundry everywhere. This issue was magnified by the fact that I had to get the rest of the clothes that were in the attic and garage (packed away from moving) out to look for maternity clothes. The good thing is I have no more clothes stored in the attic or garage. But the bad news is they are still in my living room.
I do have three containers waiting to go to good will and to Plato's closet, but for now they are just contributing to my anxiety.
I also REALLY REALLY wish we had an extra bedroom. to have a place for books, printers, office stuff, and a spare bedroom. But we don't so I'm having to brainstorm on how to reorganize an already full house now that baby2 is coming.
In other stressful new Benji has an abscessed tooth, aka a really nasty infection in the root. He will have to have a root canal next week but has to wait until he can take a round of antibiotics to kill the infection. Mean while he is suffering through the mother of all tooth aches. You know when Lortab and three Ibuprofen don't take the edge off nothing will.
So here we are in a nutshell. Or nuthouse...which ever you choose probably fits. :)
