Monday: A Week In Review

Right now I am literally sweating, sitting on my couch.

That is another story for another day.

Ya'll. For real. Last week was THE craziest, most hectic week we have had in a long time!

Not even all bad stuff, just insane timing of it all.

It started out with us having to replace the transmission in Benji's truck.

Not fun.

Then on Saturday one of my dearest friends adopted TWINS! It was such an exciting day!

Sunday, after church and lunch with Benji's Sunday School teachers, I ran around trying to get ready for my surgery on Tuesday. I wanted to make a meal for my friend before I went under the knife so I stocked up on groceries, cooked and cleaned my house a little.

That evening Benji kicked off a new program for high school and college kids. I went to that and stayed until I had to meet Benji's mom at our house because she was dropping off the kids.

I got Emery fed and ready for bed then finished cooking meals for the next few days.

Monday I visited my friend and her new babies. My mom came up with my 2 year old nephew to stay with Emery and Jesse during my surgery.

I had surgery to remove my gall bladder on Tuesday. We had to be at the surgery center bright and early at 7am!!

The gall bladder/surgery part went great. The intubation process part went not so great. Not sure if we will ever get the full story of what happened but some how my uvula was stretched and swollen to the length of my tongue and the size of my thumb.

Needless to say that has set me back. My throat is still very sore. It still is painful to swallow. Today was the first day I have been off of pain meds (only because I ran out).

As soon as I was discharged I had to see an ENT about my uvula. I FINALLY got home from my 7 am surgery after 4pm. (Still not sure WHY I was discharged...we have a lot of questions).

Emery had her second ballet class that afternoon and I didn't want her to miss. One of our friends ended up taking her since we were so delayed getting home from surgery.

I didn't get much rest that day or the next day. Partly due to my throat and partly due to Emery and Asher having such a great time!!! Once I found some ear plugs and had a shower I finally crashed for a good while on Wednesday afternoon.

Emery started Awana on Wednesday night. I have been wanting her to start Awana since she was born so I really didn't want her to miss her first night. Benji also had his Wednesday night program kick off for the fall that night. He went into work that day, got home from work around 9pm and Mom and Asher left.

Thursday, thankfully Benji was able to take off work and stay with the kids. I think I slept most of that day. He did have to show the car a few times that day and had a few errands to run. That evening I had a baby shower to attend for one of my friends who is having her 3rd baby. I wouldn't have missed it for anything so Benji dropped me off and I entertained them, I'm sure, with my drug induced state.

Friday, Benji ran some errands with the kids while I got the first real rest of the week. He had to get the car cleaned to show it to a few people. I started calling the Dr's again because I still wasn't able to swallow well and by then I was getting pretty hungry.

I had planned to go to lunch with a few friends to celebrate a birthday that day. Once again in my drug induced stupor I had Benji drop me off and I'm sure I was a sight.

While I was at lunch Benji SOLD THE CAR!! ha! It was and is such a blessing, but it was such crazy timing. I played phone tag with the Dr's all during lunch. I got dropped off at home by one of my friends... Benji showed up just as I was hanging up with the Dr.

Benji had to meet the guy buying the car at 2pm. I figured I was probably going to have to be at the Dr again that afternoon. AND....Benji had to have 200 hot dogs cooked by 530 that evening for the first tail gate/ football game of the high school season. MEERRCCY.

As Benji was signing the title to the car I was calling around town trying to find someone/ anyone to give him a ride home from the bank after selling the car.

NO ONE IN GREENVILLE COULD HELP HIM!!! Really!

I just couldn't bring myself to drive with both kids in the car while on narcotics. If I hadn't of had to drive with the kids in the car I may have done it....

Any way so I stayed with kids, Benji met the guy at the bank, sold the car, walked to our church and finally found someone to drive him home.

I didn't even have time to be sad about the car! haha.

During all that I had an emotionally charged conversation with the final call from the Dr's office of the day.

No Dr's appointment that day, they told me to just eat ice cream until Monday and if I still wasn't better call them back.

Whatevss....

Once Benji found a ride home he had to book it BACK to the church (in his truck this time, not on foot), so that he could get ready for his annual tail gate for the Riverside/Eastside football game.

Which included cooking 200 hot dogs.

He got the hot dogs cooked, got set up for the tail gate and everything went great. He had promised Emery she could come to the football game. Let me tell ya, she loves her some high school sports! He came and got her after the tail gate to enjoy the rest of the game.

I think they got home around 11 that night. Saturday we puttered around the house and RESTED from our crazy week.

Emery was worn slap out this weekend. Yesterday and today she fell asleep on the couch twice. As in twice in one day! That never ever happens.

Today I am finally feeling better. My throat is slowly healing. The pain in my throat has been definitely worse than both my C sections.

Thankfully and most importantly my nausea and stomach issues are gone! Which was the point of the surgery in the first place.

Well, if you are still with me here I consider you a dear friend! ha! I know that was a ton to read.

I have so many blog post floating around in my head. Maybe now I can start to get back on track with the fun post. Post about shoes and recipes and my crazy daughter. :)

Kid Free and .....sleeping.

Friends, I have so much to say!!! I have drafts of posts saved that should be completed this weekend but I don't know if it will get done.

My M.I.L (whom I adore) called Benji today to see if she could have the kids for the weekend.

HE TOLD HER NO!!!!! haha

WHAT IS WRONG WITH MENNNNN!!!????

You never, ever, tell the grand parents no. EVER. Emery had a birthday party to go to tomorrow and her first day in a new Sunday School class....doesn't matter. Unless she is having surgery, she can go to her grandparents house! ha!

So anyway. We are kid free for the weekend. I have to say, I have been feeling like I really needed a break recently. I am so so so tired. I feel like I complain about that alot but until you have a new born and a two/three year old you just can't comprehend the fatigue that is involved. THEN add in that my husband is a super busy youth pastor who is fiercely devoted to his job (as he should be), we are wiped out.

We had our 10 year anniversary a few days ago. Did I mention it here??? Can't remember. I can't remember anything lately.

I am having surgery on Tuesday. Praise the LORD. My gall bladder is coming out. I haven't felt "right" since Emery was born.

Hopefully this will cure all my problems and I will be a new woman.

I am planning on starting my diet/new way of life after my surgery. Many of you know that I lost a considerable amount of weight a few year before Emery was born, then I lost around 40lbs after Emery was born.

This time around I need to lose about 40/50 pounds again.. :(

But I am slowly getting emotionally and mentally prepared to make the changes I need to to lose the weight.

I know exactly what I need to do. I know it isn't rocket science.

EAT LESS, EXERCISE MORE. If you burn more calories than you take in you lose weight.

Sigh....

Jesse is doing so good now in the area of sleep. Ironically, I quit trying to give him solid foods and we started sleeping through the night. around 11 to 630... We had started feeding him baby food and he started waking up again every 3 hours.

NOT fun. So I quit with the baby food and will start back soon.

I had to do the exact same thing with Emery. I started with her around 4/5 months and had to quit and start again around 6/7 months.

Hopefully this is a sign of him regulating himself. Emery did the same thing around this age.

I have a post saved in the draft folder that deals with sleep issues. I confess I can't do the CIO method with the babies. It works for us as a family once they are past the age of 1...(once they are on solid food completely) but until then I just can't bring myself to do it that way... but that is another post for another day.

Benji has moved his sleeping self to the bed so I guess it is officially bed time!

Tiny Dancer

Emery starts dance on Tuesday (which happens to be my appt with the surgeon)...I am so excited for her and I think she is going to have such a good time!

I can't be there for her first day, but I am so thankful that she has a daddy that will take her and be excited for her and cheer her on.

She's growing so fast and is becoming so fun to be around. Can't wait to see her dance.

To Gluten Or Not To Gluten

So here is the update. I know everyone is dying to know about my intestinal issues. I've heard people have been asking around town so here is the low down.

I got tested for the gluten intolerance.

It came back negative. Which means I have no sensitivity that shows up in testing.

My gall bladder has been the culprit of most of my troubles. I had an ultrasound to see what was going on in there and there are some gall stones and sludge hanging out so it is coming out at a TBA time. I meet with a surgeon on Tuesday.

My Doctor said I could wait and see what happens, if anything, with my gall bladder, but since I do know there are stones and sludge in there I'm being pro active and kickin it to da curb ASAP!

I'm pretty certain now that all the issues I had while pregnant with Jesse were related to my gall bladder as well. Since we are wanting (Lord willing) another baby I don't want to get caught pregnant with an emergency situation.

Now none of that explains my allergy symptoms and the seemingly allergic reaction I had while eating dinner one night. But I will just be thankful that no news really is good news.

I also had my thyroid checked and it is fine/normal. I will contribute my fatigue and exhaustion to EMERY LADD, JESSE LADD AND BENJI LADD. haha. Most of all Jesse. I mean I haven't slept all night in about 6 months so of course I'm exhausted right?

I am trying my best to get on the healthy wagon again. I have to be honest, the few weeks I was GF I felt GREAT! I really agree with alot of the Paleo diet info. So once I make up my mind to get healthy/out of the new mom mindset, I'll most likely stick with a mostly GF diet. There is alot of truth and wisdom behind cutting the majority of wheat out of your diet.

Thanks to all who encouraged me, informed me and prayed for me. I am one lucky girl to have so many friends.

The Birthday That Never Ends

Here are the last few pictures I wanted to share from Emery's party. I am almost caught up blogging for the summer. I still want to share some of Benji's trip to Brazil (Even though I was left behind!) He had a great time and there were so many blessed on the trip.

3 and 33.

Emery thinks it is hilarious that she is 3 and I am 33.

Any way. I guess 33 is the year it all officially starts to fall apart.

My gall bladder has received it's eviction notice.

I'm just thankful that I know what my issue is and ready to feel better!

We threw together and sprinted to pull off Emery's 3rd birthday party with her friends and my family.

Benji stayed up for three nights until about 2am putting together a swing set. I spent all day one day wrangling Emery and Jesse by myself (Benji had a youth camp). Let me tell you it is next to impossible to decorate, clean and wrap presents for a party of a 3 year old when that said 3 year old is in the same house. Ha! I was like a stealth ninja sneaking around trying to hide presents and balloons and stuff.

She had a blast though! and I think her friends had fun too. (Largely due to the fact that Benji rigged the slip in slide up to the swing set slide, with the hose attached and doused it in dish soap.....)

I can't believe my girl is 3!

Vaca 2011

Family Vaca 2011

There is something so so beautiful and special about seeing things through the eyes of your children.

Family vacation is far from relaxing for me. BUT just like Christmas, it is SO MUCH more fun now that we have kids. Emery was so excited about everything we did.

She is the most precious child I have ever ever seen and I cherish these moments because I know they are so fleeting.

Three

We had a great time at the beach.

My baby turned three!

We are so so busy right now. I'm playing catch up in every area of life.

My body is driving me crazy and so is the laundry.

I swear I will be back one day to play catch up. Hopefully this Saturday we will be celebrating Emery's birthday with her friends.

If I'm not having surgery. BUUTTTT that's another post for another day!

Told ya, we have a lot going on!
