16 weeks and a smushed bladder.

I'm 16 weeks today. 16 weeks with a bladder infection. boo. If I had to get one, I got one at the right time. I woke up on Thursday to go to the doctor to have some blood drawn for a screening, and well, I knew I had a bladder infection. So while I was at the doctor I got an antibiotic and that pill that makes your pee bright orange.

Bladder infections are common during the second trimester because the baby is literally squashing the bladder, making it harder for all the pee to be flushed out. So its annoying but not really a big deal.

The baby is now about 3 to 5 inches long and weighs about 3 oz. The size of a softball is what one book said. Not really sure why they compare the baby to round objects b/c that really doesn't help me. But whatever.

Yay for golf. Football is finally off of T.V. and Phil is back. Woo hooo.

My Valentine, my baby daddy.

My most amazing husband surprised me today for valentines. We went and spent the day at the Speed art museum here in Louisville. They have a special exhibit on right now that is from the V & A in London. This is the first time these pieces have left their home in London and they came here to Louisville. The most famous of the pieces that we got to see was one of Leonardo Da Vinci's notebooks. It was cool, and I am continously impressed at how thoughtful Benji is to my interests. I know that he would probably rather pull his eyebrows out than walk around an art museum for hours, but he does it for me. I'm lucky.

15 weeks, oh my.

I feel like this pregnancy is flying by. We had our 15 week check up yesterday. We got to hear the heartbeat again which is so fun every time. I got to pee in the cup AGAIN, which is also fun every time. I finally asked why we had to do that each time and the nurse said it was to check protien, glucose, electrolites and some other kind of _cose or lites...... apparently they compare them each month to see if there has been any changes.

I jokingly replied to her..."oh good, I thought you might be checking to see if I'm still pregnant." She obviously didn't get the joke. whatever. I thought it was funny.

Our next visit in march is when we find out what we are having. We are going to need some suggestions on names, boy and girl. This is a scary thing to name another human. We were thinking maybe we might just wait and when the baby is old enough we would let him or her decide what their name is....you know give them the choice. But you have to put something on the birth certificate so oh well.

My BFF from college is here this weekend with me and it is great to see her.

14 weeks and Hebrew

This is a picture of a 14 week old baby. I'm about 14 weeks and a few days.

A side note- this picture, this experience is exactly why I could and would never vote for anyone who was pro-choice. Call me a one issue voter if you want but if you had seen what I saw at my 11 week ultrasound, (which is still an acceptable time for abortion), you would understand.

I am really starting to look and feel pregnant. Last night I had to get up four times to go to the bathroom. Seriously four times. During church today I suddenly thought, "I have to eat Macaroni Grill right now." But it subsided and we ate lunch at home.

I'm also starting to get more emotional about everything. T.V., work, school, Vance, how my clothes fit, whatever. Which may be surprising to some, but I seriously am usually pretty even tempered.
We watched We Are Marshall last night and I cried the entire movie. Hope I don't cry during the superbowl b/c we are going to a party.

My Hebrew Syntax and Exegesis class is progressing rapidly and I'm already having a hard time keeping up. But it's my last class before graduation so I'm keeping up out of complete determination. I've decided that Greek was alot easier than Hebrew. Crazy I know for all of you who went on the Greek journey with me, Greek was more stressful, but Hebrew is just hard. I'm gonna make it through though, because I want to.

Guess that's about it. We go to the doctor again on Friday. Next month we find out if baby Ladd is pink or blue.
